Two people charged in connection with Solihull murder

Police have charged a man with murder following the death of a woman in Solihull at the weekend.

Kerry Woolley, 38, was found with fatal injuries to her neck at her flat on Warwick Road, at around 3:20pm on Sunday (12 July).

Ian Bennett, aged 37, from Moordown Avenue, Solihull was charged with murder this afternoon (15 July) and will appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow morning, (16 July).

His mother, Lynda Bennett, aged 62 from Moordown Avenue, Solihull has been charged with perverting the course of justice and assisting an offender, she will also appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.

Kerry’s family said: “We would like to thank everyone for the support and lovely messages we have received over the last few days.

“Police are devastated and shocked by what has happened to our beautiful Kerry.

“Our priority now is her beautiful children, that have been left without their mom. Thank you again.”

Detective Inspector Nick Barnes, from our homicide team, said: “My thoughts remain with Kerry’s family who are devastated by their loss.

“Our investigations are continuing and I’d urge anyone who may have any information to contact us as soon as possible.”
