Police are appealing for information after a man was slashed across his back while protecting his baby from a masked robber in Bournville.
The attacker confronted the victim and threatened to harm the 22-month-old girl in Hawthorne Road yesterday (31 August).
The man, in his 30s, spotted a weapon in the would-be robber’s arms and stood over the pram to ensure the baby was safe. He was then slashed across his back but thankfully his injuries were not serious.
The attacker fled the scene empty-handed and a knife was later discovered in the area.
Our officers are examining CCTV and carrying out further enquiries to identify him.
Police have stepped up patrols in the area and officers are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything to get in touch urgently.
Detective Sergeant Marc Petford, from force CID, said: “This was a terrifying situation as the victim was left fearing for the safety of his daughter and himself. It’s important we identify this man as soon as possible.”
