A man who pointed a loaded gun at a friend’s head during a heated row has been jailed after we found the firearm hidden down his trousers.

Kevin Harrison was drinking with a pal at his flat in Dovey Tower, Nechells, on 11 February this year when he accused him of having an affair with his partner.

As tempers flared Harrison produced a black pistol from a holdall and pointed it towards the victim saying “I’ll shoot you”.

The 54-year-old managed to escape and raise the alarm with police.

And when our officers arrived minutes later they found 40-year-old Harrison with the gun plus 23 rounds of ammunition wrapped in a carrier bag stuffed down his pants.

Our ballistics experts examined the firearm and found it to be a viable 380 Glock pistol.

He went on to admit possessing a firearm and ammunition and at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday (4 Sept) was jailed for six years and eight months.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Steve Lewis from force CID, said: “Harrison and the victim were friends at the time but during the argument the victim told us he genuinely feared his life was about to end.

“The gun was pointed at his head and he believed it was loaded.

“We got officers to the scene quickly and caught Harrison with the gun and ammunition.

“It was always going to be difficult for him to explain why he had an illegal handgun and 9mm bullets hidden down his trousers – and he went on to admit his guilt in court.

“This was a significant recovery, a lethal weapon and several live bullets taken off the streets and potentially saving lives.”
